Matters

Open a new matter

Create a matter file with the client, court, Najiz number and team, and learn the Free plan limit.

Last updated:

You open one file per case or transaction, then attach hearings, deadlines, tasks, documents and invoices to it.

Steps

  1. On Matters press New matter.
  2. In the Matter section: enter the Matter title (at least 2 characters, for example, Labour claim — end-of-service benefits).
  3. Firm file number: leave it empty to generate one (such as 2026-0001).
  4. Client: search contacts by name or phone, or type a new name and choose the "Add … as a new client" option; it is added to contacts with the role Client.
  5. Pick the Practice area, Claim amount, Description and Opened on.
  6. In Court and Najiz: Court type, Court name, Circuit, City, Najiz case number and Hijri year (four digits such as 1447).
  7. In Team: choose the Responsible lawyer and Team members. Everyone you add is notified.
  8. Press Open matter. You see Matter opened. and land on its page (the page).

Why can't I open a matter?

  • Free plan: the limit is 5 open matters. When you reach it you see "You've reached the open-matters limit" and the button is disabled. Close a finished matter or upgrade. On-hold and closed matters do not count, but reopening a closed one does. See Reaching a plan limit.
  • Your role: accountants cannot open matters.
  • "This file number is already used by another matter": change the number or leave it empty.

After opening, add the parties and team, a hearing and a statutory deadline.
