Matter parties and team

Add opposing parties, their counsel, experts and witnesses, build the matter team, and see how it affects who can view the matter.

Parties

In the side column, the Parties card holds opposing parties, their counsel, experts, witnesses and others.

  1. Press Add party.
  2. Search contacts or type a new name (it shows New contact and is created when you add it).
  3. Choose the Role: Opposing party, Opposing counsel, Co-client, Expert, Witness, Other.
  4. Add a Note (optional) then press Add.

To remove a party press Remove and confirm; the contact itself is kept. If a party is already on the matter you see "This party is already on the matter", and for the client themselves "This is the matter's client."

Team

The Team card shows the Responsible lawyer and team members.

  1. Choose a member under Add member and press Add.
  2. The member gets a notification.
  3. To remove someone press Remove. If you remove yourself you are warned you "may no longer see this matter".

You change the responsible lawyer with Edit on the matter.

Effect on visibility

If the firm chose Assigned only, lawyers and paralegals see only matters they are responsible for or on the team of. Owners, partners and accountants see all. When a member is assigned a hearing or a deadline on a matter, they are added to its team automatically.
