Clients and leads pipeline

Convert a lead into a client and open a matter

What "Convert to client" does and how to go on to open a matter.

Last updated:

When a prospective client agrees to engage you, convert their lead into a client.

Steps

  1. Open the lead from Leads.
  2. It is best to run a conflict check first.
  3. Press Convert to client.

You see Converted to client with an Open client record link.

What exactly happens

  • A client record (role Client) is created from the lead's details, with the lead's source, and the summary is copied into its notes.
  • If a client with the same mobile (or email) already exists, no duplicate is created; the lead is linked to the existing record.
  • The lead is linked to the client and moves to the Engaged stage.
  • If the lead is already linked to a client you see "This lead is already linked to a client."

Next: open the matter

Open Matters, press New matter, and search for the client in the Client field. See Open a new matter.

Why did the conversion fail?

On the Free plan, creating the new client may be refused at the 25-contact limit, with a plan-limit message. Archive old records or upgrade.
