What is the client portal?
A secure space where your client follows their matters, hearings, documents and invoices and messages your firm
Last updated:
The client portal is a space your client enters with their own site account, to see only what you allow and message you securely instead of scattered WhatsApp and email. Everything is opt-in: you switch the portal on for the firm and then invite whom you choose.
What it offers
- Their own profile as you hold it (name and contact details).
- Their own matters only: title, stage, court and status.
- Upcoming and past hearings of those matters.
- Only the documents you share with them.
- Their issued invoices and the payments recorded against them (not drafts).
- A conversation with you.
What they never see
Internal deadlines, tasks and notes; time records, the trust account and firm reports; other clients' matters; the firm's members, settings and subscription.
How to start
- Open Settings, then the Client portal tab, and turn the portal on (Turn portal on). This is for owners and partners.
- Open the client's contact and invite them from the Client portal card (steps).
- Share the documents you want them to see.
- Follow their messages under Client messages (conversations).
Who can do what
Inviting, messaging and disabling one client's access: owners, partners, lawyers and paralegals. Turning the portal on or off for the whole firm: owners and partners. Accountants do not manage the portal.
